Dr. Diaz Garelli Awarded Place in PRIDE Summer Institute
Assistant Professor

Dr. Franck Diaz Garelli is one of nine health researchers in the nation to be selected for Cohort 8 of the Pride Summer Institute in Cardiovascular Disease Comorbidities, Genetics and Epidemiology (CVD-CGE).

Dr. Diaz Garelli is an Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s Department of Public Health Sciences and an affiliate faculty member of the School of Data Science. His research focuses on the reuse of health data to improve population health and learning healthcare in chronic diseases.

The primary objective of the Summer Institute in Cardiovascular Disease Comorbidities, Genetics, and Epidemiology (CVD-CGE) is to provide junior-level faculty and scientists, with backgrounds that are underrepresented in the biomedical sciences and/or who have a disability, with all-expenses-paid training and mentoring. This training and mentoring ensures that these faculty can competently and effectively develop independent research programs on cutting-edge Heart, Lung, Blood, and Sleep (HLBS) disorders. In addition to bringing together scientists to improve the breadth of research on diseases that disproportionately affect marginalized populations, the Summer Institute also serves to establish a long-term networking relationship between mentors and mentees.
