Adina Girmay

Concentration: Community Health Practice

Academic Background: B.A. in Global Studies (Concentration in Global Health & Environment) from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Public Health Interests: My public health interests are currently in the intersection of human rights and equity within the broader global context.

Public Health Experience: I currently work for a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that serves patients from underserved communities without regard for their ability to pay. In this role, I have seen patients through various points of care and now work on a team to increase access for uninsured patients to cancer prevention screenings and treatments.

Why I chose the MPH program at UNC Charlotte: After my undergraduate degree, I relocated back to the Charlotte area and found myself serving the surrounding community. I have enjoyed my time working and living in the area and when the opportunity to continue to do so while pursuing my MPH became an option, I knew it was the right choice for me.
